The start of lambing time....

A couple of sheep lambed yesterday with lots more due this week.  Nelson is now a dad!    We usually use a Texel ram; when crossed with the Mule sheep that we have they produce lambs that are light coated with white faces.  As our tup this year is Nelson,  a Suffolk ram,  the lambs are quite dark coated with black faces and larger ears!   Very cute!

On Wednesday we had a sheep having a small prolapse, she is due to lamb triplets too, so my dad has injected with a long acting antibiotic and used a strap to hold the prolapse back into place, she will be kept an eye on until she is lambing.   She is very well though eating normally and in good health.  The lambs should be fine.
