Early April

There is just one sheep left to lamb, the Dorset Poll of James's.  She is due very soon and is quite heavy with lamb.

We had two sheep struggling to lamb at the vets last month, one of the sheep had two dead lambs in her and was starting to get poorly, she had been stuck lambing for a while., the lambs that are dead don't present themselves properly when they are giving birth.   She took to having an orphan lamb really well and is now happy outside.  The sheep soon recovered with help getting her to eat again, by soaking  provin in water and treacle and having a course of antibiotics.

The orphan lambs, all eight of them are still inside, feeding on milk, pelletts and hay.  The sheep and lambs are all outside, enjoying the sunshine when it comes, although last week we had quite a covering of snow.

Liquid fertilizer has been applied to the grass to help it grow, so we need some warmer weather.
